My Top Ten Reasons for Supporting Israel

After reading the most asinine commentary on this blog talking about how we should quit supporting Israel I thought I should give my top ten reasons for supporting the Middle East's only western style democracy.

1. If the idiots on the left sabotage the mission in Iraq Israel will be the Middle East's only democracy.

2. Israel is America's only significant ally in the region and with the fifth most powerful army in the region it a pretty significant ally. Israel is our first line of defense against the terrorists in the Middle East. If something needs to get done in that region Israel can get it done. Remember the destruction of nuclear weapons facilities in Iraq and Syria by the Israeli air force?

3. Israel is a valuable trading partner. In 2007 alone the U.S had over $30 billion of trade with Israel. It also has a vibrant economy it has the third most NASDAQ listed companies of any country in the world and it has a higher per capita GDP then the UK.

4. Israel is the only place where the Jewish people can live as a majority without fear of persecution. To want to take that away from them is simply anti-Semitic.

5. Israeli scientists are among the best in the world. Israel has produced more scientific papers per capita then any other nation in the world.

6. Israel has been a reliable friend to the United States. After terrorists attacked our African embassies Israeli rescue teams arrived withing 24 hours and saved the lives of three people.

7. Here's one for the leftards: Israel is one of the most environmentally friendly nations on the planet. It is the only nation that entered the 21st century with a net gain of trees.

8. Israel has greatly expanded the quality of life for its Arab neighbors. It provides them with health care and education for free.

9. Israelis are innovative and industrious. In a little more then half a century a group of refugees have transformed a desolate land of swamp and desert into a thriving nation.

10. Israel has been among the most forgiving nations in the world. Despite sixty years of invasions and terrorism Israel stands willing to make peace with all of its neighbors.

Jeremiah Wright is My Hero!

That might seem an odd thing for a reasonable and patriotic person to say about someone who's favorite slogan is "damn America" and who thinks HIV was invented by the U.S to kill black people as part of some conspiracy, but I can't hide my true feelings about "Reverend" Wright any longer. As recently as a few weeks ago America looked like it was headed for a tragedy. A charismatic, but dangerous politician by the name of Barrack Hussein Obama had duped his way to within throwing distance from the White House. The BHO Craze was taking the nation by storm. It seemed that in just a few short months a traitor would be in control of our own government.

That is about the time when Mr. Wright showed and exposed BHO for what he truly is, a dangerous man seeking to destroy America from within. Americans aren't stupid, they might be able to be fooled by a slick talking politician trained in the art of trickery, but they sure won't be fooled by his slightly more candid preacher. There is no way that someone would listen to a preacher for twenty years and not agree with most of what he had to say. America owes Jeremiah Wright a big 'thank you' for exposing BHO. In fact let me be the first to thank Mr. Wright by suggesting that the next President bestow upon him the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

A PATRIOT FOR PRESIDENT, WHY I ENDORSE JOHN MCCAIN

America was founded on the principle of freedom. Many courageous men gave their lives in the American Revolution for that principle. In Iraq today many brave men, and now even some brave women, are putting their lives on the line for that same reason. One could say that, at least ideologically the Iraq war is no different from the American Revolution.

I know that this war is not popular with many who claim to be Americans. That is to be expected by all who study history. During the American Revolution the war was popular among most Americans at first, but when they realized that it was going to be a long war with many sacrifices the sunshine patriots and armchair generals quickly lost interest. At the low point in our war for independence only about a third of Americans supported fighting until, as one great man put it they were given "liberty or death", that is about the same number of Americans who want to stay in Iraq until the job is done.

There are many other similarities worth mentioning. During the Revolution the aforementioned armchair generals wrote off the cause of American independence. Americans, they said, were just a bunch of angry farmers armed with pitchforks. There was no way they stood a chance against the most powerful empire on the face of the Earth. The annalists misjudged our resolve. They looked over our most powerful weapon, a weapon that made up for every other shortcoming, and that weapon was the American spirit.

Today America is no longer a group of poorly armed farmers. We are now the most powerful nation the world has ever seen, but although we have the might of a superpower we still have the spirit of the underdog. The armchair generals wanted to end the Revolution before we won our freedom and they want to surrender in Iraq before we win freedom there too. I'm grateful that this country did not take the liberals' advice in the Revolution and I sure as hell hope we don't take their advice now.

The liberals like to ask us if we have learned anything from Vietnam. I'd like to flip that question around and as them if they have learned anything from Vietnam. Our army is the best in the world. We are nearly invincible militarily. It was not our boys in uniform that surrendered to the forces of fascism in Vietnam, it was the liberals here at home. This nation can't afford to lose another war on the home front, this nation can't afford four years under a President Hillary Clinton or Barrack Hussein Obama. That is why we need a true American, someone who understands the military and someone who is not afraid to stay the course as our next President. John McCain was not my first choice for the nomination, but now he is America's only choice, our only hope of winning this war. That is why I endorse John McCain to be the next President of the United States of America.
